Can I just tell you how awesome Yvonne and Alan Hart at Windmill Acres Farm & Goat Dairy are? And can I also tell you how much I LOVE everything I buy from them when I shop at the Ocala Farmers Market? They always have a variety of fresh goat milk products as well as other things from the farm store. "Must-haves" for me include the latest flavors of cheesecake, and another favorite, the Veggie Goat Cheese Quiche.

Since they started serving mimosas, "Saturday Market Day" has become kind of a thing for me and the girls so if I'm in town, I make sure to hit up Yvonne's booth, specifically for some yummy food and to give her a big hug!

This slight obsession started several years ago when I owned and operated a local food business. I focused on only supporting local farmers and buying only what was available in the state of Florida, depending on the growing season. I later branched out and sold local products too, but the whole concept began with the desire to make it easier for local farmers to access the local market.

And that is how I met Yvonne and Alan.

One of my dearest friends, Cindy, was my neighbor in Florida at the time, and like Yvonne and Alan, she was a goat farmer. She introduced us and they quickly became one of the first producers to sell me wholesale products. Windmill Acres mini cheesecakes became a staple treat for my customers and for me. Besides that, they offer a variety of flavored chevres, ready-made meals and spaghetti sauces, jams and pickles, and honey and soap!

But here's the kicker, Yvonne and Alan do everything from feeding and cleaning to milking and marketing. They adhere to strict protocols, maintain the highest standards of herd management, and maintain all the appropriate licensing to legally produce and sell their products as a Grade A, FDA certified Micro Dairy.

And on top of all of that, they're as sweet as could be! So, I wanted to take a moment to give them a little #SunsetShoutOut because I know how hard they work and I'm grateful they made goat milk farming their passion.
