Club Give!

This event is near and dear to my heart. When I thought about teaching our members about what it mean to celebrate Christmas, I quickly realized how many of them had never been in a position to give.

I created Club Give! so that our members could experience the feeling of giving their loved ones a gift on Christmas.

Throughout the school year, our members had the chance to earn Club Bucks for doing a variety of things, whether that meant helping the staff, getting good grades, or simply being kind to another member. Then, they could use their Club Bucks to "purchase" items from the Club Give! store, which was set up at each of the three club locations.

We established partnerships with local businesses to collect donated items for the Club Give! store. This included toy drives, corporate donations, and separate events to raise money to buy items for the store. The first Club Give! was held in 2018 and it was a huge success! The kids loved the fact that they could give their families presents, and many of them shopped for siblings, parents, grandparents, and friends.

We recruited volunteers to wrap the gifts for the kids and sent them home with presents to put under their Christmas trees. It was incredible to see the community come together and give their time and resources to make this event happen.

Club Give! is different than just donating items to underprivileged children for Christmas, it's about teaching them the value of what it means to actually give someone they love a gift on such a special day.

I'm proud to say this event is still an annual staple of the club's activities and many of the same sponsors, donors, and volunteers who were established in 2018 continue to participate every year.
